Davisville Village was named after John Davis, who immigrated to Canada in 1840 from Staffordshire, England. John Davis operated Davis Pottery and helped found Davisville Public School. The northern part of the Village was owned by the Church and was then sold to the Dovercourt Land and Building Company in 1911; the southern part (land mostly owned by the Davis family) of Davisville was subdivided in the 1860s.
